Trinity Photography Club Photo Contest Official Rules 2011-2012
The 2011-2012 Trinity Photography Club (TPC) Photo Contest begins January 8, 2012, at 1:00am EST and endsFebruary 25, 2012, 11:59pm EST.
Eligibility for Entry
You must be a University of Toronto student to enter. Anyone who currently sits on the executive team of Trinity Photography Club is not eligible for the competition.
Entry Process and Rules
Categories for Entry
The categories for entries are: (1) Club events*, (2) People, (3) Nature, (4) Architecture, and (5)Time**.
*Note that in order to qualify for submission to category (1) Club events, the photo must be taken during one of the events held by Trinity Photography Club. For example, photos taken during the photography field trip held in November 2011 would qualify.
** For category Time, please let your imagination fly and come up with a creative photograph showing your understanding of the subject “time”. Alternatively, you can explore the beauty of extreme long or short shutter speed and capture time in a glimpse of second or as it flows.
Number of Submissions
Each entrant is limited to 1 (one) photo submission per category. If multiple photos are submitted to a particular category,only the first entry will be consideredfor that specific category. The same photo may not be submitted to multiple categories. For each photo entry, it is important to specify which category the photo is submitted to.
Method of Submission
Photos must be submitted by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) , either as an attachment or in a link to an online photo album. We strongly recommend that you submit your photosas an attachment. The e-mail must have the subject line ‘photo contest entry’. The e-mail must detail which category the photo(s)is(are) submitted to and the entrant’s name, e-mail address, and phone number. If possible, please include a photo caption/title and the basic information on how the photo was taken (camera type, ISO, aperture, exposure time, any manipulation, etc.) This will not be used as criteria in the judging process but will be posted on to our website along with the photo. Also indicate if you are a Trinity College student. This will be used only for the information of the Trinity Photography Club (TPC) and will not affect the judging process.
Eligibility of Submission
Photographs must have been taken within the 2011-2012 school year.Photos must not have previously been submitted to the Trinity Photography Club Photo Contest.
Format and Specifications of Submission
Scans of print photographs will be accepted. Any readable digital file will be accepted. Photos should have a minimum resolution of 300dpi. Manipulated photos are accepted.
All information related to the photographer will be removed from association with the photo (blinded) except for a caption, if one is submitted. The executive committee of Trinity Photography Club will select photographs in each category. The selected photographs will proceed to an executive judging committee. This committee will consist of employees of the University of Toronto and Trinity College and will not include any Trinity Photography Club executives. The committee will select a winning photograph in each category. All other photographs to be selected for the second round of judging will receive honorable mentions.
Honorable mention winners will receive certificates. Category winners will receive certificates and a $20 gift card. The winning photographs will be posted on the Trinity Magazine’s website and the Trinity Photography Club’s website and Facebook page.
Subject to Applicable Laws
Photos must have been taken by the entrant named in the e-mail and must not infringe copyrights, trademarks, property rights, intellectual rights, or privacy rights. Any person pictured in entry photographs must give permission for entry. Photos must not promote products or services. Photos must not violate any Canadian laws. No other person may have any claim to the photograph. Photos containing artwork not created by the entrant must be of the artwork in an environment, not a full-frame photo of the artwork.
Trinity Photography Club may use your personal contact information to administer contests, including contacting, announcing and promoting prize winners. In addition, Trinity Photography Club may use this information to send you contest updates or general club information. If you do not wish to receive this information, you may opt-out at any time by sending us an email.
Trinity Photography Club is not responsible for any loss or damage caused by the contest or its prizes. Upon submission entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and the decisions made by the judging committee. The judging committee reserves the right to disqualify entrants or specific entries to the contest. Upon submission entrants agree to have their name and photo released and published in any form by the Trinity Photography Club and Trinity Magazine. The Trinity Photography Club reserves the right to cancel or suspend the contest.
The Trinity Photography Club may, in their sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering any contest whom they believe to be abusing the rules. Such abuse includes entering false information and intentionally entering more than once.
